The Chaparri mountain, located right next to Urum is a place like no other to get closer to spirituality and better understand the role that nature has for this region.
The north of Peru, especially the city of Chiclayo, has a rich history around shamanism and spirituality. For example, the mochicas considered that nature had a duality, in which destruction and balance were constantly challenging each other. For them, it’s not until Ai-Apaec, the most powerful god, goes to battle against the puma (the representative of chaos and destruction on earth) that harmony is finally reached. To this day there are shamans who practice and preserve millenary rituals of magic and sorcery. For them, the visible world is impregnated by invisible forces and spirits from parallel dimensions that coexist with ours.
The Chaparri mountain, located right next to Urum like a guardian, is a place like no other to get closer to spirituality and better understand the role that nature has for this region. Since the times of the Mochicas, this site has been a place of worship and pilgrimage. Today, the feet of this sacred mountain are visited by both shamans and people who want to thank the earth for everything it gives us.
